YSRC, TD fix Muhuruts for their CM’s oath-taking ceremony

Vijayawada: With only 10 days left for counting of votes polled in the 2024 general elections, coinciding with AP Assembly polls, the YSRC is hopeful of registering a resounding victory with the support of rural and urban voters. Opposition Telugu Desam is banking on urban constituencies to power its victory.

There are 67 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh that are urban and semi-urban. The remaining 108 constituencies are rural and semi-rural.
Sure of their victories, the YSRC leaders have fixed 9:38 am on June 9 as the Muhurut for YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to take oath as chief minister for the second successive time. A message has been sent on social media platforms to all elected MLAs and party rank and file to be present in Visakhapatnam for the oath-taking programme.
The TD has fixed June 6 for the oath-taking programme. Its leaders and cadres have been asked to assemble in Amaravati to witness the TD chief taking oath as the next chief minister of AP.
The YSRC leaders are pointing out that in 2019 elections, barring 23 seats, the party registered a clean sweep of urban seats. They say this time, 117 of total 175 Assembly constituencies have registered 80 per cent or higher voter turnout. The majority of urban constituencies lagged behind with only 65–70 per cent voting participation.
YSRC leaders Malladi Vishnu, V. Srinivas Rao, D. Avinash and P. Gowtham Reddy, among others, are confident that barring the wealthy, elite, government officials and employees, and upper middle classes, all other sections are getting Navaratnalu welfare schemes in urban constituencies.
The leaders are thus claiming that they will sweep the AP Assembly elections based on both the urban and rural votes.
Referring to their win in urban Assembly constituencies despite a full wave of Jagan Mohan Reddy in 2019 elections, the TD rank and file are claiming that a majority of urban people are up in arms against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. They say absence of development and welfare in rural areas will go against Jagan Mohan Reddy and people will power the Telugu Desam to victory.
