Rs 10,000 Each Transferred To 75L Bihar Women
"Bihar's women now have two brothers 'Nitish and Modi' who are working tirelessly for their betterment," Modi said while virtually launching the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which 75 lakh women in poll-bound Bihar received Rs 10,000 each to support self-employment and livelihood activities

Starting with an initial financial support of Rs 10,000, the scheme can provide up to Rs 2 lakh based on the success of the enterprise under the Rs 7,500-crore project, an initiative of the NDA government in the state aimed at promoting women's economic empowerment. — PTI
New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the RJD, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that under its rule women in Bihar suffered immensely, and urged people to pledge that the Lalu Prasad-led party and its allies should never return to power in the state.
Meanwhile, Union home minister Amit Shah began a two-day visit to Bihar. He arrived in Bettiah, the district headquarters of West Champaran, and addressed a party meeting attended by MLAs, MPs, district presidents, and other leaders from 10 organisational districts of Saran and West Champaran.
Speaking after virtually launching Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana from New Delhi, under which 75 lakh women received ₹10,000 each for livelihood activities, the Prime Minister urged people not to forget the era of “lantern governance” under Opposition rule. He also interacted virtually with beneficiaries of the scheme.
Modi recalled that during that time, lawlessness and corruption prevailed in Bihar, major roads were broken, bridges were missing, and women suffered the most due to poor infrastructure. “During floods, hardships intensified as pregnant women could not reach hospitals on time and lacked access to proper treatment in critical situations,” he said, adding that his government helped women overcome such challenges.
He noted that with the NDA in power at the Centre and in Bihar, road construction has gained momentum and connectivity has improved, significantly easing the lives of women. Referring to an exhibition in Bihar displaying old newspaper headlines, he said these serve as stark reminders of the fear and insecurity that prevailed during the opposition’s regime, when Naxalite terror was unchecked and no household, from poor families to those of doctors and IAS officers, was safe.
Praising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, Modi said that the rule of law has been restored in Bihar and women are its primary beneficiaries. “Today, daughters of Bihar step out without fear and even work late at night. During my visits, I have seen a large deployment of women police personnel, which is a matter of satisfaction,” he said, urging people to ensure Bihar never returns to the “dark days” of the past.
Highlighting the NDA’s focus on women’s empowerment, the Prime Minister said Bihar would soon have the highest number of Lakhpati Didis in the country. He emphasized that every family would have at least one woman beneficiary under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. “Starting with ₹10,000, the scheme can provide up to ₹2 lakh depending on the success of the enterprise,” he said, urging people to recognize the magnitude of this initiative.
Modi pointed out that Bihar already has a strong network of nearly 11 lakh self-help groups. “Earlier this month, I launched the Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Society. This will now be integrated with the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, ensuring its effectiveness from the very beginning,” he said.
Striking an emotional note, he remarked: “A brother finds true happiness when his sister is healthy, prosperous, and her family is economically strong. Today, Bihar’s women have two brothers, Nitish and Modi, working tirelessly for their welfare. The double-engine government is committed to mothers, sisters, and daughters of the state. It is a matter of pride for me to inaugurate this scheme.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted other Central initiatives like Mudra Yojana, Drone Didi, Bima Sakhi, and Bank Didi, saying all were aimed at expanding opportunities for women. “The singular goal behind these efforts is to help women realize their dreams by providing them with maximum opportunities,” he said.
