PM Shehbaz Praises Pak Army, Skips Ceasefire Breach in National Address

Shehbaz Sharif thanked the international community for supporting de-escalation, specifically mentioning the role of US President Donald Trump, and expressing gratitude to the UK, Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and especially China

New Delhi: Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, which was soon violated by Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made no mention of the breach in his Saturday night address.

Sharif praised the Pakistani armed forces for what he described as a professional and historic response to Indian military action, calling it a moment of national pride. While he didn’t name Army Chief Gen Asim Munir, he repeatedly credited the military for “retaliation that created history.”

He also thanked US President Donald Trump and acknowledged the support of the UK, Qatar, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and especially China. “Special thanks to China,” he said, without elaboration.

Calling the Pahalgam terror attack a "pretext," Sharif blamed India for launching unprovoked strikes and accused it of targeting civilians and religious sites.

He also criticised the Indian media but avoided any reference to Pakistan’s ceasefire violations or the ongoing drone and firing incidents reported after the agreement.
