MLC Polls: Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda See 93.55% Turnout
Tensions flared in Khammam during MLC polling over voter influence allegations; ballot boxes secured, counting set for March 3.

Nalgonda: In a strong display of voter participation, the elections for the Teachers’ MLC seats in the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency reported an overall polling percentage of 93.55 per cent, with 24,132 out of 25,797 electors casting their votes. The polling was conducted across 200 stations in the erstwhile districts of Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda.
In Warangal district, 2,214 of 2,353 voters participated, registering a 94.13% turnout. Hanumakonda recorded a 91.66 per cent turnout with 4,780 teachers voting out of 5,215 electors, while another area in the district saw 945 out of 1,002 voters (94.31 per cent) exercising their right to vote. Mahbubabad district witnessed a 94.47 per cent poll percentage as 1,571 voters turned out from a total of 1,663 electors.
Jayashanker Bhupalapally district reported a 93.62 per cent turnout with 308 out of 329 voters, and Mulugu district saw a 92.83 per cent turnout with 583 voters out of 628 electors. In Khammam district, 3,804 out of 4,089 teacher voters participated, marking a 93.03 per cent turnout, while Bhadadri-Kothagudem recorded a 91.84 per cent participation rate with 1,858 voters from 2,022 electors.
Nalgonda district experienced an impressive 94.66 per cent turnout, with 4,433 out of 4,683 teacher voters casting their ballots. Suryapet district saw 2,530 voters out of 2,664 electors (94.97 per cent), and Yadadri-Bhongir reported the highest turnout of 96.54 per cent as 950 out of 984 voters participated. In Siddipet district, where polling was conducted at four stations, 156 of 166 electors voted, reflecting a 93.98 per cent turnout.
Amid the smooth conduct of the polling, tension flared in Khammam when UTF leaders clashed with police and officials. The dispute arose after allegations surfaced that a polling agent for PRTU candidate Pingali Sripal Reddy tried to influence voters at the Rikka Bazaar School polling station. Authorities assured the UTF leaders that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken.
With the polling now complete, ballot boxes from the three districts are set to be transferred to secure storage at the Warehouse Corporation’s godown in Arjalabavi, on the outskirts of Nalgonda. The vote counting is scheduled to begin on March 3.
