Karnataka Reports Rs 109 Crore Digital Fraud
While responding to a query from MLC K Pratap Simha Nayak he said that ₹9.45 crore has been recovered, and 27 individuals have been arrested.
The Minister stated that across the country, over 42,000 digital fraud cases were reported with Karnataka accounting for 11,000 of them.
“In our efforts to tackle the problem, 268 Facebook groups, 465 Telegram groups, 15 Instagram accounts, and 61 WhatsApp groups involved in fraudulent activities have been deactivated,” Dr. Parameshwara added.
Awareness campaigns are being conducted in schools, colleges, and other institutions to educate people about digital fraud. “The government is taking strict legal action against cybercriminals and encouraging victims to report incidents promptly,” he said.
The Minister also emphasized the need for immediate reporting of cyber fraud cases, urging the public to use the free helpline number 1930 for assistance.
