Fear Grips Villages Around Medaram After Natural Disasters
Villagers in Medaram and surrounding areas live in fear after a series of natural disasters, including earthquakes and tornado-like winds

Warangal: In the backdrop of a series of horrifying incidents around Medaram, people in surrounding villages are living with fear in Mulugu district.
Videos of Sammakka and Saralamma temples’ iron grills vibrating due to earthquake went viral on social media.
On August 31 this year, tornado like winds destroyed huge forests spreading over 15 kilometers and uprooted 50,000 different varieties of trees.
In 2018, gusty winds accompanied by heavy rains created a terror in the forest region uprooting hundreds of trees at Chilukalagutta.
In 1984, people witnessed cloudburst at Lavalla forest region in Pasra mandal affecting surrounding villages.
Most people living in Medaram and in its surrounding areas are adivasis and not much educated.
The Kakatiya University’s Geology department head R. Mallikurjan Reddy said Telangana and Andhra Pradesh come under zone three earthquakes. In 1969 and 2018 earthquakes occurred in Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam areas.
