Devotees throng Vaishnav temples across Andhra Pradesh for Bhishma Ekadasi, with special poojas and grand rituals

Kakinada: Vaishnav temples in the state were teeming with devotees on Saturday on the occasion of “Bhishma Ekadasi” festival. The temples reverberated with chanting of “Hari Nama Smarana-Om Namo Narayana’’. Special poojas and Abhishekams were conducted at these shrines.
Temples like Sri Satyanarayana Murthy at Annavaram, Bhavannarayana Swamy at Sarpavaram, Venkateswara Swamy temples at Tirupati in Peddapuram mandal, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Eluru, Dwaraka Tirumala, Amalapuram and other areas saw devotees thronging these shrines.
Thousands of devotees thronged the famous Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Vadapalli in Konaseema district. Many devotees observed fast as part of their devotion. Sri Sitharama Kalyanam was performed at Kanavaram village in Rajanagaram mandal. Kalyanam is performed in the village on “Bhishma Ekadasi” every year.
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kalyanam was performed on a grand scale on Friday midnight and Rathostavam (chariot procession) was taken out on Saturday at Antarvedi in Sakhinetipalli mandal of Konaseema district.
Joint collector T. Nishanthi, Razole MLA Deva Vara Prasad and others were present at the festival. Revenue divisional officer K. Madhavi said that 1.10 lakh devotees participated in the Rathotsavam programme.
