MP: Nearly 42 Lakh Voters In MP Set For Deletion From Voters’ List
Preliminary draft electoral roll to appear on Dec 23; Notices will be issued to them seeking clarification on the required information from them

Bhopal: Nearly 42 lakh voters in Madhya Pradesh have been identified for deletion from the draft electoral roll, to be made public on December 23, in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state, officials said on Saturday.
The first phase of SIR in the state completed late on Thursday.
Around 41.8 lakh voters have been identified for deletion in the SIR exercise in Madhya Pradesh, officials said.
The deleted voters have been classified into four categories.
While around 8.4 lakh voters have been found to have died, nearly 2.5 lakh voters have been identified as duplicate electorates.
Similarly, 8.4 lakh voters have been identified as absent voters, while 22.5 lakh voters have been found to have shifted from their registered addresses and hence, they are going to be removed from the draft electoral roll, officials said.
However, mapping of around nine lakh voters could not be done since they have failed to provide complete or mandatory information in their enumeration forms, the officials said.
Notices will be issued to them seeking clarification on the required information from them.
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will issue a formal notice if a voter’s details do not match with the base 2003 base records, in the draft electoral roll to be released on Tuesday, sources said.
Meanwhile the SIR exercise in Chhattisgarh has identified 6,40,115 voters as deceased, 14,26,212 voters being shifted from their registered addresses long ago and 1,71,212 voters as duplicate electorates.
In addition to this, 4,98,291 voters have been found missing, sources in the CEO office in Raipur said.
However, 27,50,822 names could not be verified since they have not provided complete or mandatory information in the enumeration forms, sources said.
