India, Sweden Discuss AI, Green Transition, Defence Ties
Discussions covered areas including green transition, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties.

Gothenburg (Sweden): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, focusing on trade, technology, defence and other key sectors, during his two-day visit to Sweden.
During delegation-level talks, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and explored avenues to enhance cooperation, with trade between the countries reaching $7.75 billion in 2025.
Discussions covered areas including green transition, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties.
Ahead of the meeting, Modi said the talks would focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, innovation and defence.
Separately, Modi met Robert Maersk Uggla, chairman of Maersk, and discussed investment opportunities in India, particularly in port infrastructure and logistics, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
Officials said the Prime Minister appreciated the company’s presence in India and encouraged further investments, including in maritime logistics and green shipping.
Earlier, Modi’s aircraft was escorted by Swedish Air Force jets as it entered Swedish airspace, and he was received at the airport by Kristersson.
After arriving in Gothenburg, Modi interacted with members of the Indian diaspora. Cultural performances were organised, including a rendition of ‘Vaishnava Jana To’ and a Bharatanatyam presentation by students.
