Bihar on High Alert After 3 Terrorists Enter via Nepal

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to ensure peaceful elections

Patna: Bihar police have issued a statewide high alert after intelligence inputs suggested that three operatives of the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) infiltrated the state through Nepal.

The suspects — Hasnain Ali of Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain of Umarkot, and Mohammad Usman of Bahawalpur, Pakistan — reportedly entered India from Kathmandu earlier this month with the help of a local Nepali resident. Their sketches and passport details have been circulated to security agencies in border districts.

Security has been tightened in Purnea, Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj, which share borders with Nepal and Bangladesh. “An intensive search operation has been launched, and all precautionary measures are in place ahead of the state elections,” said DIG Purnea, Pramod Kumar Mandal.

The alert follows the recent arrest of Nazre Saddam in East Champaran for circulating counterfeit currency, raising fears of terror funding. Bihar has witnessed several terror-related arrests in recent years, including operatives linked to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and the Islamic State (IS).

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to ensure peaceful elections.
