Hyderabad:A youth was arrested for allegedly attacking a 21-year-old woman with a knife after barging into her rented apartment in Puppalaguda, Narsingi, on January 1.
Police said the accused, Parvathala Rohith, 23, who worked as a waiter at a hotel in the same building, had been stalking and harassing the woman for nearly two months, repeatedly pressuring her to accept his proposal.
On New Year’s night, the woman returned home late and found her roommates had not yet arrived. She left the door open and went to sleep. Rohith allegedly entered the flat, upon which the woman raised an alarm. He then attacked her with a knife, causing injuries to her hand. Police said he also behaved indecently with her before fleeing the spot.
Narsingi police registered a case and arrested Rohith. Further investigation is underway.
