Two Army Personnel Killed in Separate Incidents In J&K
30-year-old Banoth Anil Kumar meets tragic fate on LoC; Another Sepoy Suresh Biswal is killed in accidental shooting in Doda

SRINAGAR: An Army jawan Banoth Anil Kumar, a resident of Telangana, tragically died after slipping into a deep gorge during a routine patrol near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bijhama area of Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on Monday.
A defence spokesman said here on Tuesday that 30-year-old Kumar who was serving with the Maratha Light Infantry met the traffic fate while performing operational duties. “He died on the spot and his body was taken to Uri sub-district hospital for medico-legal formalities,” the spokesman added.
The Army’s Srinagar-based 15 Corps-also called Chinar Corps- mourned Kumar’s loss, saluting his valour and expressing solidarity with his bereaved family. In a post on ‘X’, it said, “Chinar Corps deeply regrets the loss of precious life of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. Chinar Warriors salute his immense valour and sacrifice, express deepest condolence and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Sepoy Suresh Biswal from Odisha was killed at Sarna camp in Bhaderwah, area of eastern Doda district, when his service rifle accidentally discharged while he was on guard duty.
The Army and J&K Police sources said that, found in a pool of blood, Biswal was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead. "Preliminary findings suggest the accident occurred while Biswal who was on guard duty unloaded his rifle", Bhaderwah Superintendent of Police Vinod Sharma said adding that the inquest proceedings are underway to ascertain the exact cause.
