Security Guards feted for Rescuing Pigeons
Home Guards S. Gopal (HG 3017) and Md. Afsar (HG 7281) rescued a pigeon that had become trapped on an advertising hoarding at Bowenpally crossroads, posing a risk to both the bird and traffic movement in the area.

Hyderabad:Reinforcing the message that traffic discipline is not limited to road safety alone but also extends to protecting every life on the road, including birds, two Home Guards of the Begumpet traffic police were felicitated on the occasion of `National Bird Day` for rescuing a pigeon in distress.
Home Guards S. Gopal (HG 3017) and Md. Afsar (HG 7281) rescued a pigeon that had become trapped on an advertising hoarding at Bowenpally crossroads, posing a risk to both the bird and traffic movement in the area.
According to officials, Gopal climbed the hoarding and freed the pigeon, while Afsar assisted from below and managed traffic. G. Shankar Raju, ACP, Traffic-I, North Zone, along with G. Janaki Ramulu, additional inspector of police, traffic police station Begumpet, felicitated the Home Guards.
Shankar Raju disclosed that a `reward roll` on their remarkable work would be submitted to higher authorities to acknowledge and encourage such exemplary service.
Vigilance Raids Net Rs 96 Lakh in Penalties
Hyderabad:The vigilance and enforcement department along with the mines department have conducted raids at different places on illegal sand transportation and collected `96 lakh penalties. Transport officials registered cases against erring vehicles.
Shikha Goel, director general, Vigilance and Enforcement, said on Monday that they conducted surprise checks at different places and regional unit offices of mines and RTA participated. During the raids, it was observed that the vehicle such as tippers were carrying sand illegally at least 49 tonnes by violating rules and regulations.
At Birkur, the vigilance officers have noticed vehicles carrying sand even after the sand reaches were closed at night. Mines department officers have detained vehicles at Madnur police of Kamareddy district and registered cases. In Medak, six vehicles were booked for speeding and carrying sand by violating rules. in Papannapet sand reach.
Shikha Goel said the raids would continue in the state to prevent illegal sand transportation.
Lady Doctor Ends Life by Injecting Weedicide
Hyderabad:Dr B. Lavanya, A junior doctor, who attempted to die by suicide in Siddipet recently, died while undergoing treatment at NIMS hospital on Monday.
Dr Lavanya, of Jogulamba Gadwal district, had finished house surgeon training in Siddipet Government Medical College and was working as a junior doctor at Government General Hospital in Siddipet.
A few days ago, Dr Lavanya while on duty reporteded feeling unwell and received treatment in the casualty department. She returned to the college hostel where she attempted to die by suicide.
Upon noticing her, her fellow doctors shifted her to the Government General Hospital in Siddipet for treatment. After doctors examined her, she was transferred to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims), where she died while receiving treatment in Hyderabad on Monday.
According to the police, Dr Lavanya was under work pressure. A case has been registered at the Siddipet III Police limits.
