210 grams of stolen gold worth ₹25 lakh recovered from train thieves

Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested two women of a ‘zip opening’ gang and recovered 210 grams of gold worth Rs 25 lakh that they had stolen from railway passengers. Chandana Deepti, SP GRP, identified the accused as Kokila Maniraju of Bengaluru and S. Dina of Tamil Nadu.

They had booked train tickets in the AC coach of Nanded Express and boarded the train at Visakhapatnam. During the journey to Charlapally, they opened the bags of two female passengers and stole the gold ornaments. They moved to another coach and detrained at Cherlapally. The duo was traced and arrested near Gate 2 of the Secunderabad station while they were planning another offence, S.N. Jawed, DSP, GRP, said.


Cops arrest 4 with 3kg ganja

Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force in coordination with Medipally cops arrested four peddlers and seized three kilograms of ganja from their possession. EAGLE Force director Sandeep Shandilya identified the accused as Gundla Prudhviraj, T. Rahul, Md. Akram and Abdul Shafee. Prudviraj said he was procuring the contraband from one Jaswanth of Odisha. He had developed a network in the city on the commissions

Phone tapping: SIT grills Nandakumar

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone-tapping case on Thursday questioned Nandakumar, accused of horse-trading during the BRS government tenure. Meanwhile the custodial interrogation of prime accused Prabhakar Rao ended earlier in the day.

Nandakumar later told the media that he was asked if he was aware that his phone was tapped. He was also asked about the videos recorded in the farmhouse of a then-BRS leader during the alleged horse-trading. Nandakumar alleged that then-Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had released the videos to the media.

Nandakumar also said that the SIT had asked him about the farmhouse owner Tathangam.
Nandakumar claimed that he had complained about his phone being tapped to the police at that time. He told the media that he had told the SIT that he had been harassed by then-DCP task force Radha Kishan Rao who he accused of extorting money from him by collecting information by tapping his phone.

He later told the media that the SIT had recorded his statement and that he was asked to furnish statements.

Meanwhile, the custodial interrogation of prime accused T. Prabhakar Rao, ended on Thursday. “As per Supreme Court orders we are supposed to release him. The investigation is in progress. We will be going for the third phase of investigation after the Assembly sessions,” an officer told Deccan Chronicle..
During the 14-day custodial interrogation of Prabhakar Rao, the SIT, which was reorganised with police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar as its head, summoned and questioned other accused D. Praneeth Rao, N. Bhujanga Rao Radha Kishan Rao and M. Tirupatanna.

The SIT also questioned former chief secretaries Shanti Kumari and Somesh Kumar, former secretary, political, M. Raghunandan Rao and former intelligence chiefs Naveen Chand and Anil Kumar as well as former DGP M. Mahender Reddy.
