Prime Accused Arrested In Chandabali Minor Rape And Murder Case

Bhubaneswar : In a significant breakthrough, Odisha Police on Wednesday arrested the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl in the Chandabali police station area of Bhadrak district.
The accused was apprehended in neighbouring Jagatsinghpur district and brought to Bhadrak for further interrogation, police said.
Meanwhile, a sniffer dog squad and a scientific team were deployed at the crime scene to assist in the investigation. Tension continues to prevail in the area, with angry residents staging protests demanding swift justice.
On Tuesday, locals blocked roads at Hatapadi, Madhubabu Chhak and the Chandabali bus stand, burning tyres and disrupting traffic. Protesters also forced their way into the Chandabali panchayat office, located near the spot where the girl’s body was later recovered.
The body of the minor was found on Wednesday in a dense forest within Chandabali police station limits.
According to preliminary information, the girl had left home after telling her family she was going to school. When she failed to return, her family launched a search, following which her body was discovered in the forest.
Police have stepped up security in the area to prevent any untoward incidents as the investigation continues.
