Mom, Kid Die in Murder-Suicide
Police booked a case based on a complaint by Sujatha’s mother Asgani Laxmi, 55. Police said Sujatha and her husband, Nagaraju, had moved to Narapally for livelihood.

Hyderabad:A woman allegedly drowned her six-year-old daughter and died by suicide at the Narapally lake, allegedly due to continuous harassment by her husband, on Wednesday. Two other children, one aged 13 and the other 11, survived.
Investigation officer Shiva Kumar identified the mother as L. Sujatha, 34. Police booked a case based on a complaint by Sujatha’s mother Asgani Laxmi, 55. Police said Sujatha and her husband, Nagaraju, had moved to Narapally for livelihood. Of late, Nagaraju had allegedly been harassing Sujatha, accusing her of having an illicit relationship. Despite the elders counselling them several times, the harassment reportedly continued.
On May 14, the family once again intervened and warned Nagaraju not to repeat his behaviour. The murder-suicide occurred at about 3.30 pm on Friday. Locals who noticed the attempt managed to rescue two children and shifted them to the Ghatkesar Government Hospital and later shifted to Gandhi Hospital. Sujatha and her youngest daughter drowned.
Gang with scores of fake papers nabbed
Hyderabad: The LB Nagar special operations team and Saroornagar police arrested six persons involved in a certificate forgery racket operating under the name of Saathwik Enterprises in Saroornagar, Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said on Friday.
The arrested were: Thota Venkata Bhanu Prakash, owner of Saathwik Enterprises; his wife Thota Sagarika; Addaguduru Chandrashekar, supplier of outdated stamp papers; his son Addaguduru Anil, a document vendor; Md Jaleel, agent facilitating fake birth certificates; and Jalla Kishore Kumar, 44, a client who procured fake sale deeds.
Police are on the look-out for document writer Syed Feroz Ali; Pulusu Mallesh Goud, agent for fake birth certificates; outsourcing employees at municipal offices Praveen (Kamareddy), Duddu Sudheer Kumar (Narsingi), Mudassir (Bandlaguda Jagir); Chanchala Nikhil, agent arranging fake documents for bank loans; and Satya Prabhu, a rubber stamp-maker from Dilsukhnagar.
Police said Prakash and Sagarika procured outdated non-judicial stamp papers from Chandrashekar and Anil, erased details, forged signatures and rubber stamps of notary advocates, licensed stamp vendors, medical professionals, and government officials to create fake documents. These fake documents, including sale deeds, birth, caste, and income certificates, were sold to clients for `5,000 to `20,000.
In the past year alone, they had created 280 fake sale deeds. The racket also facilitated the issuance of around 181 fake birth certificates over the past one and a half years.
The police seized 571 non-judicial stamp papers of various denominations, 48 fake birth certificates and five fake caste certificates, 11 fake income certificates, among other things.
Home Guard dies, pay issues alleged
Hyderabad:Gorla Govardhan Yadav, a 33-year-old Home Guard, died allegedly by suicide at his rented house in Vinobhanagar, Neredmet, on Thursday. Investigating officer Chandrashekar said Yadav worked as a driver at the ACP office, Trimulgherry division. He is survived by his wife Gautami and two six-year-old twins.
During investigation, it was found that Govardhan had been under emotional distress due to his daughter's kidney-related disease. There were reports claiming Yadav was not being paid his salary, which added to his distress. “He was not very active and would not attend duty everyday. So his salary was paid accordingly,” Chandrashekar said.
Govardhan returned from duty at around 10 pm in an inebriated state and went to bed. The next morning, around 9 am, his wife Gautami and younger brother Udaya Prakash Yadav did not wake up. They then found that he had died. “He had gotten addicted to alcohol,” the IO said.
Man Arrested for Blackmail
Hyderabad: Ghatkesar police investigating officer B. Prabhakar Reddy said one Avinash Reddy had been arrested and remanded for allegedly blackmailing and stalking a minor. The incident came to light after the minor's parents lodged a complaint.
Police said that Avinash Reddy and the victim had gone on a college trip about six months ago. The accused had take a few pictures of the victim, with a few of them also having the victim’s friend. A fortnight back, the accused allegedly called up the victim, asking for cash and gold and said he would leak the pictures on social media if she did not pay up. That is when the parents reached out to the Ghatkesar police.
