Missing CRPF Jawan Found Dead in Balangir, Family Alleges Foul Play

Bhubaneswar: The body of a missing CRPF jawan was found hanging from a tree near Ghasian village under Larambha police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday, in a case that has left the local community in shock.

The deceased, identified as Ganeshram Bhoi, had reportedly gone missing on Friday after returning to his native village on leave. His body was discovered early Sunday morning by local villagers, prompting immediate police intervention.

According to police sources, the circumstances surrounding Bhoi’s death remain unclear. While preliminary investigations are underway, it is yet to be determined whether the incident was a case of suicide or if foul play was involved.

Family members, however, have raised serious concerns. They alleged foul play, citing the presence of unidentified footprints near the tree where the body was found. Relatives also told police that Bhoi had left his mobile phone at home before going missing and had not been seen or contacted since Friday.

A police team cordoned off the area shortly after the body was found, and a forensic team from Balangir has been called in to assist with the investigation. The exact cause of death will be established following forensic analysis and the post-mortem report.

The incident has cast a pall over Ghasian village, with residents and family members demanding a thorough probe and justice for the deceased jawan.
