Man Sent To Jail For Duping 84 People

Hyderabad:A man was arrested by the Jeedimetla police for cheating 84 people, who were promised double-bedroom houses. The accused had collected Rs 1 lakh from each victim, P Naresh Reddy, Balanagar ACP, said in a press meet, on Wednesday.
According to police, accused Bodimi Shetty Haribabu is an assistant at the Quthbullapur MLA camp office.
On July 14, a complaint was lodged by Thailam Ramesh, president of Girinagar, Jeedimetla, alleging that Haribabu had collected `1 lakh assuring him of housing allotment. In his complaint, Ramesh further alleged that Haribabu neither returned the money nor kept his promise. With the collected funds, Haribabu reportedly constructed a house in Reddy Nagar Colony, Quthbullapur, where he currently resides.
Based on the complaint, a case (Cr. No. 695/2025) was registered. Police recorded statement of eight victims and collected video evidence, including the clip of a person handing over the money. The accused was apprehended and a mobile phone used in the offence was seized.
He was sent on judicial remand. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Balapur police counsel repeat offenders
Hyderabad:In preparation for Ganesh Chaturthi and other upcoming festivals, Balapur police conducted a counselling session for rowdy-sheeters and suspect-sheeters on Thursday. The session, held at Balapur police station, was supervised by ACP S. Janaki Reddy and inspector M. Sudhakar.
Officials said 15 rowdy-sheeters and six suspect-sheeters attended the session. They were issued strict warnings against engaging in unlawful or anti-social activities, particularly during the festive season. Police instructed them to stay indoors during night hours and avoid any actions that might lead to disturbances.
Violations of these instructions will invite strict action, including invocation of the PD Act, the ACP cautioned. “They were told to obey the law, respond promptly to police calls and report to the station if summoned. We also urged them to support their families instead of engaging in criminal activity,” said Janaki Reddy.
Sudhakar added that the ACP also personally counselled each attendee to familiarise them with the officers and reinforce the commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festivities.
Cyberabad cops recover 827 stolen mobiles
Hyderabad:Cyberabad police recovered 827 stolen and lost mobile phones worth `2 crore within a span of 45 days across the commissionerate’s five CCS zones —Madhapur (180), Balanagar (174), Medchal (176), Rajendranagar (153) and Shamshabad (144) — using the CEIR portal, A. Muthyam Reddy, Cyberabad DCP, crime, said in a press meet on Wednesday. The devices were handed over to the owners on Tuesday. Muthyam Reddy urged citizens to report lost phones immediately using the CEIR portal. So far, 6,233 phones have been retrieved in eight recovery phases. He also warned against cyber fraud and advised victims to call 1930 or lodge complaints on cybercrime.gov.in for quick assistance.
Lorry drivers attacked in Shamirpet
Hyderabad:Two tipper lorry drivers were allegedly assaulted by three youths near Yellamma Gudi in Lakshmapur village, Shamirpet, around 12.30 midnight on Tuesday. Shamirpet police have registered a case. The accused were identified as K. Bhanu Chander, K. Venu and M. Raju, all residents of Lakshmapur.
In his complaint, M. Ramanjaneyulu said he and his co-driver Shabaz were intercepted by a car while driving a lorry. The occupants, posing as officials from the mining and RTO departments, vandalised the vehicle, demanded money and assaulted them.
Ramanjaneyulu’s mobile phone was broken and he suffered hand injuries. When lorry owner M. Ramakrishna and a local resident B. Anil arrived at the scene, they were also allegedly attacked. The suspects fled with the lorry keys.
Mobile theft gang busted in Hyd, 4 held
Hyderabad:Meerpet police, along with the Maheshwaram special operations team, busted a mobile phone theft racket and apprehended four offenders, including a woman, at Pragathi Nagar on Wednesday. Officials recovered 473 stolen mobile phones worth `50 lakh.
Based on credible info, the team apprehended Garedi Mahesh, Sallingalu Naresh, Kummari Gopi and Nagurni Nagamani, all habitual offenders involved in thefts across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Another accused, Nagurni Sai Kumar, is absconding.
Police said the gang targeted crowded places such as buses and markets. While one or two members distracted or jostled victims, the main offender would pick their mobile phones. The stolen handsets were handed over to Sai Kumar and Nagamani, who disposed of them at different locations for a profit. The gang split the proceeds and spent lavishly. All the arrested were handed over to Meerpet police for further investigation.
Drunk man creates nuisance
Hyderabad:A man was arrested by Kukatpally police on Tuesday for creating a public nuisance and fighting with commuters near the Moosapet junction around 9 pm on Monday. The accused, Bhusala Simhachalam Naidu, in an inebriated state, stopped a car travelling from Ameerpet towards Kukatpally, picked a fight with the occupants, climbed onto the bonnet and terrified nearby commuters.
Following circulation of a video on social media, Kukatpally police registered a suo motu case and arrested him within hours. Naidu, a native of Peddagogada village in Chidikadada mandal, Visakhapatnam, currently resides in a boys’ hostel near Moosapet and works as a welder.
Kukatpally inspector K. Rajesh said the accused, who lost both parents, often creates disturbances after consuming alcohol. “He does not realise what he’s doing when drunk,” the officer said. A chargesheet is being filed.
Unknown man enters GHMC office in KP
Hyderabad:An unidentified allegedly mentally unstable man entered the Kukatpally GHMC Zonal office, triggering panic, on Wednesday afternoon.
Kukatpally police said the man had reportedly damaged some wires. Security personnel quickly intervened and apprehended the intruder.
Police were informed who reached the spot and restored normalcy.
