Man Held For Running Money Lending Business Illegally

Hyderabad:The Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone, along with Falaknuma police, apprehended a man who was running an illegal money lending business and collecting hefty interest (up to 20%) from the victims. According to police, the accused has been identified as Syed Chand Pasha, 47, a tailor from Falaknuma. After developing familiar grounds with the people of his area, the accused started selecting gullible borrowers and gave money on high interest rate up to 20% on the principal amount.

He was running business without any valid papers or licence. If a borrower was unable to pay the interest amount, Syed Chand Pasha would visit the house and threaten him of dire consequences. After victims reached out to the Falaknuma police, a case was registered under Sections 308(2), 351(2) of the BNS and Sections 3, 10, and 13 of the Telangana Money Lenders Act.

Doc booked on cheating, rape charges

Hyderabad:The Banjara Hills police on Wednesday registered a case against a doctor of a government hospital from Mhabubabad, following allegations of rape and cheating by a city-based woman doctor. According to Banjara Hills police, the 34-year-old victim met the accused doctor at a conference last year. The two got familiar with each other. The victim further alleged that the accused concealed the fact that he was already married.

He allegedly raped her, before she could know of his marriage. The accused had also falsely promised her of a marriage. When she learnt that he was already married, she lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police. The police have registered a case against the doctor and efforts are underway to arrest him. Further investigation into the matter is going on.

Woman kills self over lost gold

Hyderabad:In a tragic incident in Vanasthalipuram, a 28-year-old woman died by suicide after jumping from the third floor of her apartment building with her toddler. While the mother died due to her injuries, the child had a miraculous escape from death. He survived with minor wounds and is under observation.

The woman, identified as G. Sudheshna from Chintalkunta, was married four years ago to Nomula Aashish Kumar. The couple lived in Agamaiah Colony and had a three-year-old son, Aarush Kumar.

According to family members, Sudheshna had been emotionally disturbed since attending a wedding in Nacharam in the third week of May, where she lost gold ornaments weighing about seven tolas. Despite efforts to locate them, the jewellery remained missing. She reportedly blamed herself and had been visibly distressed in the days that followed.

On Tuesday, Sudheshna took her son and jumped from the third floor of their building. Neighbours who heard the impact rushed to the spot and called for an ambulance. Sudheshna was critically injured and died while undergoing treatment. Aarush escaped with minor injuries. Vanasthalipuram police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.

Man gets life for murder

Hyderabad:An additional district judge in Medchal on Tuesday sentenced a 47-year-old man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of `8,000 for the brutal murder of a woman in 2021. The case was initially registered on January 4, 2021, after the decomposed body of a woman, believed to be between 35 and 45 years old, was found near a railway track close to the KM stone in Ankushapur. Her face had been burnt, making identification difficult. A railway official alerted Gatkesar police after receiving a call from a local resident.

Following a detailed investigation, police identified the victim and tracked down the accused, Ramulu. According to investigators, Ramulu had sought sexual favours from the woman and killed her when she refused. He then dumped her body near the tracks in an attempt to avoid detection. Gatkesar police led the investigation and arrested Ramulu in connection with the crime.

Murder conspiracy accused gets bail

Hyderabad:The vacation Bench of the Telangana High Court, headed by Justice Narsing Rao Nandikonda, on Wednesday granted conditional bail to a MeeSeva centre operator arrested in connection with an alleged criminal conspiracy to commit murder. The court was hearing a criminal petition filed by Arunachalam Naveen Kumar.

According to the prosecution, the de facto complainant — a former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA candidate — alleged that Naveen Kumar, with whom he had prior enmity, had conspired with another accused, Roop Singh, to eliminate him by offering a `2.5 crore supari.

The complainant cited past grudges and claimed to have received voice recordings and other information related to the murder plot. Counsel for the petitioner argued that Naveen Kumar, who is orthopaedically handicapped, had been falsely implicated and that the allegations did not meet the legal requirements to establish abetment.

Justice Nandikonda noted that the petitioner had been in judicial custody since April 2025 and that key witnesses had already been examined. Observing that the petitioner had no criminal antecedents, the court granted him conditional bail.


2 get lifer for electrocuting farmer to death

Karimnagar:The district court sentenced two persons to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of `12,000 each for the murder of a farmer by electrocution under Velgatoor police station limits in Jagtial district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ghatike Chinnaiah, 46, a resident of Stambampalli village of Velgatoor mandal. On 29th August, 2022, when Chinnaiah went for weeding work in his fields, he came in contact with a live wire and died on the spot. Suspecting foul play, his family members lodged a complaint at the Velgatoor police station.

The police investigation revealed that Chinnaiah had prior disputes with Ghatike Tirupati, 49 and Chetla Sudhakar, 38, both from the same village. They deliberately set up live wires in the field with the intention to kill Chinnaiah and executed the murder plan.

Following their arrest, Tirupathi and Sudhakar were presented before the Additional Sessions Judge of Jagtial Court Narayana. After thorough trials, the court delivered the verdict, finding both accused guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

DSP Ashok Kumar appreciated the police personnel for their efforts in securing the conviction of the accused. He lauded Additional Public Prosecutor Mallesham, Dharmapuri CIs Koteshwara and Ramamurthy along with the Court Liasioning Officer Sis G. Srikanth and Kiran Kumar and Court Duty Officer Sridhar for their investigation.
