Man Held for Holding Multiple Indian Passports With Different Names, Identities

Hyderabad:Gachibowli police on Saturday said they had arrested one Mothukupalli Lakshmikant Reddy for allegedly holding multiple Indian passports with different names and identities. Investigation revealed that the passports with different names, dates of birth and identification details, were used in the context of US visa applications.

During the investigation, it was found that he had passports in the names of Muddannolla Lakshmikant, Medha Prasoon Kumar Reddy and Medha Prasoon Kumar Reddy as well as on his name of Mothukupalli Lakshmikant Reddy. Police had registered the case against him March 22 based on a complaint lodged by US Consulate-General Hyderabad.

As part of the investigation, passport applications and related documents were collected from the Regional Passport Office, Secunderabad. The residence certificate used to obtain the passport earlier was also found to be fake, police said.

After his arrest, Gachibowli police recovered forged documents related to passports from his possession. They also seized his mobile phone, a tab and electronic devices. Police booked Lakshmikant Reddy in Crime No. 523 of 2026. Sources said a special team comprising IT, cybercrime and detective departments was probing into accused Lakshmikant Reddy’s biometric details, international travel history, digital communications and the role of travel agents, brokers and intermediaries who assisted in obtaining multiple passports.

Police said he had since been produced before the magistrate for judicial remand. Police will be filing a petition seeking custody of Lakshmikant Reddy for further investigation. Sources said that the accused would be charged with additional sections under law if more evidence was found against him as the investigation progressed.

Hyderabad: Man Kills Auto Driver Brother Over Property Dispute

Hyderabad:A man allegedly murdered his brother, an autorickshaw driver, over a long-standing property dispute in Kummaribasti of Champapet on Saturday. Saroornagar police identified the victim as Mudavat Venkatesh and the alleged attacker as Shiva Mudavat. Police said Venkatesh was rushed to a hospital with multiple stab injuries where doctors declared him dead. Shiva escaped on his bike, police said. On being informed Saroornagar police along with CLUES Teams rushed to the crime scene and collected evidence special teams have been formed to arrest Shiva.

Teen Dies as Lorry Hits two-wheeler

Hyderabad:A 16-year-old girl was killed while her parents suffered injuries when a lorry hit their two wheeler on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway at about 11.20 am on Saturday. Police said the victim was an intermediate student. The family had started early in the morning from their house in Warasiguda on their way to their native place in Warangal to attend a function, police said.

The other commuters chased and detained the lorry and informed the local police who has detained the driver and seized the lorry.

Police has conducted panchnama at the accident scene and are examining the CCTV footage of the accident scene for further investigation. A case of rash and negligent driving leading to death has been booked against the driver, his official arrest is yet to be announced. Victim’s body has been shifted to Gandhi hospital mortuary after postmortem handed over to victim’s relatives for last rites, police further said.

Priest held for raping minor girl inside temple

Ramchandrapuram police of Cyberabad on Saturday arrested a 66-year-old priest, Vadla Sayanna, for alleged rape on a minor girl inside a temple. Police said locals had caught Sayanna red-handed on Friday and handed him over to the police. According to a police release, the accused allegedly confessed to the rape. Ramachandrapuram ACP said the accused had been produced before a court for judicial remand. Bharosa teams recorded the victim's statement, police said.

Eflu clash: 14 students arrested as ABVP, NSUI clash at hostel

Police on Saturday arrested 14 students of the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) after a clash between groups belonging to the ABVP and NSUI at a hostel on the campus on Friday. Police said three students had sustained serious head injuries in the clashes.

Osmania University police said they had booked cases against members of both groups following counter-complaints. Of the 14 held, seven were produced before a magistrate for judicial remand. Seven others were granted station bail, police said. The clash at Basheer Hostel on Friday following an earlier confrontation between members of the two student groups, police said.

As previously reported, the ABVP’s EFLU unit claimed that the dispute began on August 13 after a warden of the Mahalaqa Bai Chanda Women’s Hostel allegedly spoke rudely to two female students who had requested to stay together as roommates.

ABVP students staged a protest over the incident and other hostel concerns. At around 3 am on August 14, a group of about 20 NSUI members entered the room of a second-year BA student associated with ABVP and assaulted him, it was claimed.

NSUI accused ABVP members of attacking its student leaders with sticks and glass bottles during the clashes. It alleged that several students were injured, including NSUI EFLU leaders.

ABVP denied initiating the violence and said its members came out in “total self-defence”. It alleged that police were harassing ABVP students while treating those from NSUI as victims. Police arrived at the campus at night.
