Nalgonda: A POCSO Special Court on Friday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his six-year-old daughter.
The accused from Munukuntla in Kattangur mandal, was found guilty of raping the child on December 14, 2023, when she was alone at home. Following a complaint lodged by his wife, the Kattangur police booked him under Sections 376(2)(f)(i), 376(3) of the IPC and Section 5(n) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
He was subsequently arrested. Public prosecutor Vemula Ranjit of the POCSO Court stated that Investigation Officer S. Raghavulu filed a charge sheet backed by strong evidence, leading to the conviction.
Delivering the verdict, POCSO Special Court Judge Kulakarni Vishwanath Dileep Rao sentenced the man to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000. The court also awarded a compensation of ₹2 lakh to the victim.
