Jewellery Worth ₹11.88 Lakh Recovered in Nellore Burglary Case

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly been committing thefts for easy money.

Nellore:Vedayapalem police have cracked a house burglary case and arrested a suspect, recovering stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 11.88 lakh.

The case was registered after burglars broke into a locked first-floor house in Revenue Colony under Nellore Rural mandal by removing the grill gate lock and window grills and stealing valuables kept in a cupboard.

Acting on the directions of SPSR Nellore superintendent of police Dr Ajitha Vejendla and under the supervision of Nellore Town ASP Deeksha, police arrested the accused, Uppu Siva Narayana, 31, a resident of Kallurupalli Housing Board Colony, near the Bujabujanellore highway road, on June 22.

According to police, the accused attempted to flee on noticing the police team but was chased and apprehended. During questioning, officers recovered the entire stolen property from a bag in his possession.

The recovered property includes 162.5 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 11.37 lakh and 340 grams of silver articles worth Rs 51,000, taking the total value of the recovery to Rs 11.88 lakh.

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly been committing thefts for easy money.

SP Dr Ajitha Vejendla commended ASP Deeksha and the Vedayapalem police team for solving the case and recovering the stolen property.
