Illegal Scan, Abortion Claim Woman’s Life

Abortion after illegal scan claims woman’s life

Hyderabad:A 28-year-old woman from Telangana died after undergoing an abortion allegedly triggered by an illegal sex determination scan conducted at a private residence in Nalgonda district. The accused, Yadagiri, is absconding.

The deceased, Anusha, a resident of Mothey village in the Suryapet district, was reportedly taken to Yadagiri’s house in Nakirekal two days ago for an unauthorised ultrasound scan. Yadagiri, who lacks legal authorisation to operate diagnostic services, allegedly informed her that she was carrying a female foetus. Anusha already had two daughters.

According to sources, a registered medical practitioner (RMP) from Tekumatla village brought Anusha to Yadagiri’s residence for the scan. After learning the foetus was female, Anusha’s family allegedly opted for an abortion.

She was admitted to a private hospital in Suryapet, where the procedure was carried out. However, she suffered excessive bleeding and died shortly after. After her death, Yadagiri reportedly fled the area. He is said to have been booked earlier in similar cases related to illegal sex determination scans.

Anusha’s family demanded immediate action against Yadagiri, alleging that he has been running an underground scanning facility from his residence without a medical licence. They also claim that several pregnant women from across Suryapet district have been taken to him for secret scans.
