Hyderabad:A father and his five-year-old son were killed and two others sustained injuries when two cars were involved in a high-speed collision on the highway in Choutuppal.

The deceased were identified as Sai Kumar and his son, Virinch. They were traveling to Suryapet along with three other family members.

The accident occurred when the driver of a speeding car, Sandeep, lost control around a curve. The vehicle crashed into the divider and hit Sai Kumar’s car, killing the father and son.

Sandeep and his wife Padma were heading to Hyderabad. Choutuppal police registered a case and are investigating the accident.

Hyderabad:The Banjara Hills police arrested one Harijan Govardhan for impersonating a head constable and duping a software engineer of Rs 2,82,725 in the name of setting up a hotel business.

Banjara Hills inspector S. Venkat Reddy said the police acted on a complaint by software engineer Areti Gnana Sai Prasad. Police said it all started when Govardhan overheard Prasad discussing plans to start a hotel, while at a café near the police Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at Banjara Hills.

Govardhan introduced himself as a head constable who also had a milk distribution contract and discussed plans to start a hotel. To gain his confidence, Govardhan asked Prasad to come to the ICCC.

When Prasad reached there, Govardhan pretended to exit from the ICCC building, to prove he was a policeman, ACP Venkat Reddy said.

Prasad alleged paid the money to Govardhan to initiate work for the hotel. When he tried to contact him later, the accused did not pick the calls. Prasad then inquired about Govardhan at the ICCC building, where the personnel told him the accused never worked there. Prasad then approached the police.

Afzalgunj police rescue two-year-old boy from kidnapper within 48 hours

Hyderabad:In swift act, Afzaljung police rescued a two-year-old boy from alleged human traffickers within 48 hours of receiving a complaint from the victim’s parents on Wednesday. Police said that the kidnappers were planning to sell the boy to beggars’ mafia.

Police teams arrested the kingpin Shaik Amer alias Tara, 25, who was known to target alcoholic parents, offer them liquor, kidnap their children and sell the victims to childless couples

Amer along with five associates, including two women, kidnapped the boy to sell him, said east zone DCP B. Balaswamy.

Amer is a labourer from Hakeempet. His associates, who are absconding, have been identified as Md. Abdul Salman, his wife Majida Begum, and Mohammedi Begum, all from Tolichowki.

“We received a complaint from the victim’s Bandela Devi (25) at 8.15 pm on February 16. A native of Kadapa district, she had come to the city on February 11 with her two-year-old son Prem Kumar, for livelihood. As she had lost her mobile phone, she could not contact her cousin Kumari in the city.”

When she was at a footpath near CBS, Gowliguda, she fell asleep. On waking up, she noticed that her son was kidnapped, the DCP said.

She complained to the Afzalgunj police who registered a case, and scanned footage from over 100 CCTV camera. They noticed a middle aged person kidnapping the boy and taking an autorickshaw.

“After 36 hours of search, we spotted the autorickshaw. After investgigations, police went to the house of accused in Tolichowki and rescued the boy at 4 pm on Tuesday,” the DCP said. The boy was reunited with his mother.

3 Arrested With 160 Kg Ganja Worth ₹48 Lakh

Hyderabad:Southwest zone task force and Kulsumpura police arrested three persons and seized 160 kg of ganja and other property worth `48 lakh from them after intercepting a car near the 100-Feet Road along the Musi.

Task force additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao identified the arrested accused as Guguloth Heeru, an interstate peddler from Warangal district, car driver Puranam Raju from Hanamkonda Subedari and Dudekula Makbul Sab of Sangareddy district.

Police said Heeru had been arrested twice before, when he met on Balija Srinivas of Jangaon and started a ganja business racket. He used to procure ganja from one Satish, who is under arrest.

Heeru said he procured 160 kg ganja from Bhadrachalam to sell it to a person in Pune. He was carrying the contraband in a car when the trio was arrested based on a tip-off, Srinivasa Rao said.

Rail Cops Nab Man Carrying 3.9 Kg of Ganja

Hyderabad:The railway police arrested Lambodar Jena, 43, of Kendrapara, Odisha, for smuggling ganja from Odisha into the city, and seized 3.9 kg of the narcotic worth `96,475 from him. Government Railway Police (GRP) SP Deepti Chandana said Jena was held while leaving the Secunderabad station after deboarding from the Konark Express.

Jena had shifted to the city from Bengaluru to sell narcotics. He came in contact with ganja suppliers when he went home in Kendrapara for his mother’s last rites in November last, Chandana said. He had purchased 4 kg ganja from a supplier in the Kendrapara forests.
