A 27-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday for misbehaving with pedestrians and assaulting police officials under the influence of alcohol earlier this week.
Hyderabad:A 27-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday for misbehaving with pedestrians and assaulting police officials under the influence of alcohol earlier this week.
Madhuranagar police station house officer G. Srinivas Varma said, "We got information through Dial 100 that a woman, Mekella Sarita, in a highly intoxicated condition, created nuisance late on February 23 night. Our night duty officials, along with female police staff, rushed to the scene to control the situation but the woman used abusive language against our staff. Home Guard Kejiya tried to restrain her but Sarita physically assaulted her."
Police sources disclosed that Sarita assaulted four women constables, sat on the bonnet of a police patrol vehicle and tried to damage the windscreen of hundreds of commuters. It had reportedly taken three hours to control the drunk woman.
Sarita had also attacked and abused passersby who were recording her on video.
"At the police station too, Sarita assaulted the staff. "We collected her blood samples and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory to determine narco and liquor levels and let her go home in Madhuranagar. We asked her to return to the police station the next day but she did not do so and was absconding," superintendent of police S.N.G. Avinash Babu said.
Sarita earlier worked as a junior artiste and was in a live-in relation with a production manager in television, Rakesh, police said.
Police registered cases for assault on police officers, creating nuisance, obstructing traffic, using unacceptable language and resisting arrest. Sarita was produced before the Nampally criminal court for judicial remand on Tuesday.
