Villagers of Utukuru Peddapattapupalem have expelled an entire family that allegedly killed their daughter-in-law for dowry.

Nellore:Villagers of Utukuru Peddapattapupalem have expelled an entire family that allegedly killed their daughter-in-law for dowry. They further resolved to transfer the family’s property to the deceased's children.
Suguna (25), a native of Bogole in the district, was allegedly beaten to death by her husband Harikrishna and his family on April 10. In an attempt to cover up the crime, the accused reportedly staged it as a suicide.
Suguna, who married Harikrishna in 2021, left behind two children. According to the police, Harikrishna and his father Nagurayya have a gambling addiction and began pressuring Suguna for additional dowry.
The entire family, including Harikrishna's mother Narasamma, played a role in the murder.
Police investigations confirmed it was a homicide and the key accused are now in custody.
Nellore Rural DSP Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao stressed that social boycott is a legal offense. “We will counsel the villagers against blocking entry of the accused’s family members after they are released on bail,” he stated.
Meanwhile, village elders—led by the local Kapu community leaders -- took a bold moral stand. Outraged by the cruelty inflicted on Suguna, they publicly condemned the accused family as a disgrace to the village.
In a rare show of unity, the community unanimously decided to ensure that the family’s property be officially transferred to Suguna’s children, giving them a secure future.
