Dating App Match Turns Into Blackmail, Techie Loses ₹3.61 Lakh
He lost Rs 3.61 lakh to a woman that he met on Hinge, who recorded his nude video during a video call and threatened to circulate it online.

Hyderabad:It just started like any match on a dating application but turned into a cyber extortion scam for a 22-year-old techie from Kondapur. He lost Rs 3.61 lakh to a woman that he met on Hinge, who recorded his nude video during a video call and threatened to circulate it online.
According to the complaint, the techie came into contact with the woman through the app. After having conversations on the app, they exchanged WhatsApp numbers and continued contact. During a video call with the woman, she recorded a nude video of the techie without his consent. She and an unidentified male then threatened to leak or upload the video and share it with others unless he paid money.
Fearing that the video would be circulated, the techie made multiple payments through UPI and bank transfers. After collecting the payments, the woman contacted him again and demanded an additional Rs 2.7 lakh. The techie then approached the Cyberabad cybercrime officials, blocked the contacts and stopped making further payments.
The complainant said the accused continued attempting to contact him through other numbers, which were also blocked. He identified two WhatsApp numbers used by the suspects and filed a petition. A case was registered based on his complaint.
