5-yr-old kidnapped, released in hours

Kakinada:A five-year-old boy, D. Paramesh, studying in Class I at a private school in Tuni, was kidnapped on Monday morning and released by the afternoon. According to Tuni circle inspector Geetha Ramakrishna, an unidentified man entered the school in the morning, claiming he needed to give the boy cough syrup. He then took the child away. The abduction came to light when the boy’s mother, Nirmala, arrived at the school with his lunch and found him missing. She immediately informed the police.
As news of the kidnapping spread on social media, the abductors abandoned the child in D. Polavaram village and arranged for an auto to bring him back to Tuni. The auto driver, who left the boy at the police station, told officials he was unaware of the identities of those who hired him. After questioning him, the police let him go.
Sources said the kidnappers tied the boy’s hands with a rope and took him around the outskirts of Tuni on a bike. Later, they called his father, D. Suresh, who runs a painting business, from an unknown number before sending the child back in the auto. The police are tracing the phone number, which could help identify the kidnappers. Tuni town police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
