35-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Shadnagar Lodge

Hyderabad: The body of a 35-year-old woman was found in a room at a lodge in Shadnagar. The victim was identified as P. Shivaneela, who used to work at an educational institution and was residing in Nandigama with her brother and a son. Police suspected that she was strangled to death by a friend, suspected to be one Dev Dasu. They had checked into the hotel on January 20. The spouses of both the victim and the suspect were dead, said Shadnagar inspector P. Vijay Kumar.

Truck crashes into median, creates traffic jam

Hyderabad:A major traffic jam occurred after a container truck reportedly rammed into a median after losing control near Lakdikapul, in Saifabad on Friday morning.

According to the police, the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The incident is known to have occurred around 4.30 am when the vehicle was heading from Sanathnagar to Katendan via Mehdipatnam. The lorry was reportedly overspeeding.

Locals informed the traffic police, who reached the spot and used the crane to remove the truck from the road. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Steel firm blamed in daily wager worker’s death

Hyderabad:A 36-year-old daily wage worker died after being electrocuted at a steel goods firm in Laxmiguda, Mailardevpally, on Friday. The victim's family held a protest, alleging negligence on part of the firm's owner.

The deceased Kondaiah, 36, was unloading steel goods when he came in contact with a live wire.

Fellow workers at the firm, Varun Steel Traders, shifted Kondaiah to a hospital in the city where doctors declared him dead.

Kondaiah's wife, K. Radha, and other relatives protested outside the firm and at the police station. They alleged that the firm's owner learnt of the electrocution a long time before Kondaiah was shifted to the hospital. They also pointed to several safety lapses at the firm. The protesters demanded compensation of `15 lakh.

Mailardevpally Police registered a case against the owner of Varun Steel Traders.

2 booked for land grabbing attempt

Hyderabad:The Mailardevpally police arrested two individuals for allegedly attempting to grab land by forging the owner’s signatures and presenting fake documents. The accused, Ashok Kumar, 56, and Kishore Kumar, 58, owners of AKR Bar and AKR petrol pump in Gaganpahad, were produced before the court.

The incident came to light after Omprakash Gantaji, 62, a Begum Bazaar resident, filed a complaint. Police investigations revealed that Ashok and Kishore had created counterfeit sale documents for 235 and 102 yards of land adjoining their bar, intending to expand their business.

Omprakash also alleged they had forged his signatures. Following a detailed investigation, the duo was arrested and booked by the police.

Excise cops arrests two, seize 82 kg of ganja

Kothagudem: Bhadrachalam excise police on Friday arrested two ganja peddlers at the RTO check post on Kunavaram Road and seized 82 kg of ganja.

The accused were identified as Baroddin and Abdul Nizad. Excise enforcement CI S. Ramesh said that the duo was transporting the contraband from Malkangiri in Odisha to Kerala in a car. During a routine vehicle check, the excise police discovered packets of ganja hidden in the vehicle. The seized ganja is valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in the market.


Woman’s burnt body found in Medchal

Hyderabad: The burnt body of an unidentified woman was found murdered under the Road underbridge (RuB) on the bypass road at the ORR in Munirabad in Medchal on Friday morning. Locals called the police on finding the body. Police suspected that the woman was murdered elsewhere, the body dumped at the spot and set on fire.

Cop lands in ACB net for taking bribe

Hyderabad:Shahinayathgunj inspector L. Balu Chowhan was arrested by the ACB for accepting a bribe of `50,000. He had demanded the money from a man to delete his name as a suspect in a person-missing case. The man then complained to the ACB.

The bureau said Chowhan had initially demanded `1.5 lakh but the man bargained the sum down to `50,000. Chowhan was caught red-handed while accepting the money. He was produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases and remanded.

Govt teacher held in cheating case

Adilabad: Jannaram police arrested government teacher Jadi Murali in a cheating case and produced him in the Luxettipet court on Friday. Murali is a teacher at the Zilla Parishad High School in Krishnapur. SI Gundeti Narsaiah said Murali was arrested on a complaint lodged on January 14 by Mamidi Narsaiah, a teacher at the ZPHS, Kalamadugu. Narsaiah reportedly gave `24 lakh to Murali and his family members on the promise of high returns. Murali never returned the money.
