Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the State Budget saying that despite the prevailing challenges, the government has successfully presented a “beneficial budget” for the fiscal year 2025-26.
Addressing the Telugu Desam legislature party meeting held at the assembly committee hall on Friday, Naidu emphasized that the budget has its focus on both welfare and development.
Maintaining that his government always held these and good governance as priorities, Naidu expressed the confidence that the budgetary proposals presented in the assembly earlier in the day will help rebuild the state.
The Chief Minister said his government has been working hard for the restoration of the systems that were “totally destroyed during the disruptive rule of the past five years. Despite a cash crunch, it effected a revision of pensions, revival of Anna Canteens and the Deepam scheme since June last. Some 74 of the 93 central schemes that were stalled by the previous government have already been launched, he claimed.
"Instead of viewing the budgetary proposals as mere allocations to various departments, we have allotted funds with the aim of overall development of the state. We have placed before the people positive and progressive budgetary proposals that will totally reform the status of AP," Naidu said.
Maintaining that funds have been allocated on a large scale for key sectors and for welfare schemes, the CM said he was confident that the Rs 3,22,359cr budgetary proposals will act as a bridge to achieve the 10 principles of the Swarnandhra Vision-2047.
Under the Viability Gap Fund, a sum of Rs 2,000cr has been allotted as capital expenditure as part of poverty alleviation, he said and added that fresh developmental works will be taken up through public and private partnerships.
"We have made reasonable allocations in the budget for implementation of Super-Six to fulfill the promises made during the elections. For the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, a sum of Rs 6,300cr has been allocated while the Talliki Vandanam scheme has been given Rs 9,407 crore.
Claiming that his government accords the highest priority to the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs), Naidu said a sum of Rs 47,456 crore has been allotted in the budget for this purpose. “By allocating Rs 1,000 crore for the Adarana-3 scheme, this government again stood by BCs,” he stated.
"Also, we have decided to extend an additional assistance of Rs 50,000 for BCs for house construction, thus standing solidly by the BCs. As promised, we are going to pay Rs 20,000 for fishermen during the ban on hunting from this year. A sum of Rs 230 crore has been earmarked in the budget towards financial assistance for fishermen,” the CM noted.
In a boost to the farming sector, the main source of income for the country, a sum of Rs 48,341 crore has been allocated and Rs 18,019 crore for the water resources department.
Education, another vital sector that builds the future of students has been allotted Rs 34,311 crore while Rs 20,218 crore has been set apart for SC welfare, Rs 8,159 crore for ST welfare and Rs5,434 crore for the minorities, the chief minister pointed out.
