YSRC Seeks Video Recordings of Counting in All Assembly and LS Segments on June 4

Ruling party fears TD-alliance might play mischief

Vijayawada: The YSR Congress has urged the Election Commission to take strict action against Telugu Desam leader Chintamaneni Prabhakar, who allegedly obstructed the duties of government officials.

It lodged a complaint with Additional CEO Koteswara Rao at the Velagapudi secretariat on Sunday.

YSRC leaders led by Malladi Vishnu MLA lodged another three complaints against TD state president K Atchannaidu.

They sought videography of the counting process and the postal ballots scrutiny. “There are chances of attacks by TD during the counting process on June 4. We urge the Election Commission to arrange video recording of the entire process across all tables of the counting in each assembly and parliament segment for uninterrupted counting.”

Vishnu accused the TD of encouraging violence across the state. Candidates of the TD came on the roads and destroyed government properties in many areas. There is a possibility that Telugu Desam may create a fresh bout of riots during the counting. So, the Election Commission has been asked to take appropriate measures so as to avoid a law and order problem during the counting.”

The YSRC legislator said that while Telugu Desam was in power, the atrocities committed by Chintamaneni Prabhakar were many, and there were instances of attacks on government officials. He sought the immediate arrest of Chintamaneni and registration of a criminal case against him under the PD Act.

Vishnu expressed grief over the death of the YSRC leader in the Tekkali assembly constituency due to the anarchy. “Atchannaidu is the TD nominee there. The house of YSRC booth agent Thota Mallesh, who stopped the TD gangs during polling in Nimmada village, was attacked, leading to his death. Strict action should be taken against the accused and a case must be registered against Atchannaidu.”
