Yadav Lays Foundation For Grand Panchayatan Temple At Omkareshwar's Ekatma Dham
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav laid the foundation for a grand Panchayatan Temple at Omkareshwar’s Ekatma Dham, featuring shrines to Shiva and four deities.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday laid foundation stone for a grand ‘Panchayatan Temple’ at Ekatma Dham in the Omkareshwar, housing one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, in Khandwa district in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yadav said that Ekatma Dham, being developed on Mandhata Mountain, would present an extraordinarily divine and magnificent sight in coming years.
Omkareshwar gains spiritual significance for Hindus for being a place where eighth century philosopher Adi Shankaracharya met his guru, Govinda Bhagavatpada, in a sacred cave near the Narmada river and attained spiritual enlightenment in Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism).
Ekatma Dham in Omkareshwar is a spiritual center featuring a 108-foot-tall ‘Statue of Oneness’ dedicated to Adi Shankaracharya.
The Panchayatan Temple, proposed at Ekatma Dham, will be based on ancient Panchayatan style with the statue of Lord Shiva at its Centre.
Subsequently shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Surya, Lord Ganesha, and Bhagwati Shakti will be located at the four corners.
The temple will have entrances from all four directions.
The complex will include 100 artistically carved pillars and its main mandap will have a massive dome measuring 26-feet-diameter.
Around 80,000 cubic feet of carved pink sandstone will be used in its construction.
