New Delhi: India joined the world in condemning the repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including Saturday’s attack, which led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property.
While asking to cease violence immediately, India said it stands in solidarity with the people and the government of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hope that peace and normalcy returns to the region at the earliest.
“We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property. We express our condolences to the families of the deceased and wish speedy recovery to the injured persons. The repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said in a statement.
“We stand in solidarity with the people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hope that peace and normalcy returns to the region at the earliest,” the statement added.
Saudi Arabia faced one of the deadliest attacks in recent times as a missile struck the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, killing 12 people and injuring over 300 others. Saudis have blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels for the attack. This was the third attack on a Saudi international airport this week. The Houthis have warned aviation firms and passengers against using Saudi airports and airspace threatening of more such strikes in the coming days.
