EAM S. Jaishankar To Visit Russia; Will Meet Foreign Minister Lavrov

The visit comes as India and Russia continue efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors.

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar will be on a two-day visit to Moscow for talks with his Russian interlocutors on a range of issues, including bilateral trade and investment ties.

During his visit, Dr Jaishankar, along with Russian first Deputy Prime Minister Mr Denis Manturov, will co-chair a meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).

The EAM will also meet Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and exchange perspectives on regional and global issues, according to an official statement from MEA.

The visit comes as India and Russia continue efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors.

Earlier this week, a meeting of the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi, where the two sides discussed measures to expand cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed India’s “remarkable success” in the economic, social, scientific and technological spheres, saying the country was “rightfully enjoying high esteem” on the world stage.

In July, Jaishankar met Lavrov in Manila, where the two leaders reviewed various aspects of bilateral relations and exchanged views on the Ukraine conflict and the situation in the Gulf region.

During the meeting, Jaishankar also raised India’s concerns regarding the safety of Indian seafarers in the region.
