Patriotic tune sets the tone as PM Narendra Modi's visit to Saudi Arabia draws enthusiastic response from Indian community

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Saudi Arabia, the Indian diaspora in Jeddah gathered in large numbers to celebrate the occasion with patriotic fervour. A special highlight of the evening was a moving performance by renowned Saudi singer Hashim Abbas, who sang the iconic Indian song “Aye Watan Watan Mere Azad Rahe Tu”, earning loud cheers and emotional responses from the crowd.

The event, held ahead of the prime minister’s scheduled arrival, turned into a celebration of India-Saudi ties, with tricolour flags, cultural performances, and chants of “Vande Mataram” reverberating through the venue.

Hashim Abbas, known for his deep admiration for Indian music, expressed his happiness at being part of the gathering. “It’s an honour to sing for such a vibrant and diverse community. Music transcends borders,” he said.

PM Modi’s visit is seen as a key moment in strengthening strategic and cultural relations between India and Saudi Arabia, and Monday’s diaspora celebration set a warm, heartfelt tone ahead of official meetings.
