The local villagers rushed the woman and her three daughters to the nearby hospital at Beohari: Reports

BHOPAL: A woman in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district on Sunday fed pesticide to her three daughters before consuming the toxic substance herself.
All four persons died, police said.
However, the cause of the woman taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, the investigator said.
The incident took place in the village of Hirwar.
According to the police, the woman, identified as Anita Singh (32), allegedly made her three daughters, Ritika (seven), Krishnakumari (four) and Arpita (two) consume pesticide by describing it as cough medicine.
She then started setting fire to household materials, photographs and clothes in the house before consuming the poison.
Ritika who felt nausea after taking the toxic substance suddenly went out of the house and called the neighbours for help after detailing them about the incident.
The local villagers rushed the woman and her three daughters to the nearby hospital at Beohari.
The woman and her two daughters, Krishnakumari and Arpita, were declared brought dead by the doctors in the hospital while Ritika died during treatment, police said.
After being alerted about the incident, Papaundh police reached the spot, recorded statements of neighbours and informed the woman’s husband.
Police said that a packet of the toxic substance was recovered in the woman’s house.
Station House Officer (SHO) Brijendra Mishra said that the woman’s husband is a daily wage earner and was away in another place when the incident took place.
The woman’s husband had last visited the family two months ago, the police said.
The financial condition of the family was very bad, according to the police.
“We are probing the case in all angels”, Mr. Mishra said.
