WFH Is Back? Modi’s Fuel-Saving Advice Sparks Meme Fest Online

Speaking at a BJP event in Hyderabad on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the economic pressure caused by increasing crude oil prices amid the ongoing Iran–US tensions.

‘Work from home’ memes are going viral on social media after PM Modi appealed to Indians to adopt remote working practices and reduce fuel consumption amid rising global oil prices.

Speaking at a BJP event in Hyderabad on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the economic pressure caused by increasing crude oil prices amid the ongoing Iran–US tensions.

“We started work-from-home, virtual meetings and many other methods during Covid-19. The need of the hour is to resume those methods,” PM Modi said.

He also urged people to avoid unnecessary foreign trips, destination weddings, and importing foreign products, while encouraging them to save petrol and diesel.

Soon after his remarks, social media platforms were flooded with memes, jokes and reactions related to work-from-home culture.

Many users linked the statement to the remote work culture that became common during the Covid-19 pandemic, with some joking that employees would now hope companies officially bring back work-from-home policies.

Several memes focused on the daily struggles of office commuters, especially rising fuel costs, traffic congestion and long travel hours in metro cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi-Noida. Users sarcastically described work from home as the ‘best fuel-saving policy.’

Another section of social media reactions compared office life before and after the pandemic. Meme creators shared humorous posts on social media about attending meetings in pajamas, avoiding office attendance and enjoying flexible schedules at home.

Some viral posts also targeted companies that had ended hybrid work culture. Users joked that employees suddenly became supportive of virtual meetings and remote jobs once fuel prices became a concern again.

Apart from humor, a few reactions reflected genuine public concern over inflation, commuting expenses and the stress faced by working professionals who travel long distances daily for office work.

The memes continue to gain traction online, with users mixing humor, sarcasm and relatable workplace experiences while discussing fuel prices and remote work culture while tagging PM Modi on their tweets.
