West Bengal Govt Transfers 235 Officers
Among the transferred bureaucrats, 17 were posted as district magistrates (DM) while the rest were in additional district magistrates (ADM), sub divisional officers (SDO) and block development officers (BDO) ranks: Reports

KOLKATA: Hours before the Election Commission's announcement on Monday of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal among a list of states, the Mamata Banerjee government transferred 235 civil servants including 64 IAS officers in a major reshuffle.
Among the transferred bureaucrats, 17 were posted as district magistrates (DM) while the rest were in additional district magistrates (ADM), sub divisional officers (SDO) and block development officers (BDO) ranks.
The BJP however alleged that the state government took the step after the SIR announcement and lodged a complaint against it with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Shooting a letter along with the copies of the transfer orders to the CEC, party leader Sisir Bajoria claimed, “The West Bengal Government has carried out a mass scale transfer of 235 officers today 27 October 2025, after the announcement of SIR by the ECI on 24 June 2025 vide Order no 23/ERS/2025.”
He wrote, “In these transfers 17 DMs, 22 ADMs, 45 SDOs and 151 BDOs are also included, most of whom are / will be involved in the SIR which has already been announced. The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly protests this irregular step in complete violation of the ECI guidelines of ordering these transfers without the approval of the ECI.”
The letter added, “We also draw your attention to the continued violation of the ECI guidelines by the Government of West Bengal and request strong communication from your end, including annulling these irregular transfers.”
