Ghosh claimed some attackers threatened him with a gun: Reports
KOLKATA: Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh alleged that armed men attacked his car in Narkeldanga on Sunday, the second such incident within a day, this time in his own constituency.
Ghosh, who belongs to Mamata All India Trinamool Congress, was heading to an event in ward 36 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation when the alleged attack occurred.
Ghosh alleged that a gang of armed men travelling on motorcycles began following his car as soon as he left his residence in the morning. They overtook and surrounded the vehicle in Narkeldanga before smashing its windows with stones and hammers, he alleged.
Ghosh claimed some attackers threatened him with a gun, prompting his security personnel to draw their revolvers to deter them.
After the incident on Sunday morning, the MLA later lodged a complaint at Narkeldanga police station and blamed the BJP for the attack carried out in broad daylight.
“The BJP wants to kill me. I may die anyday,” he said.
Union minister Sukanta Majumdar, however, attributed the incident to a factional feud between two TMC camps.
Ghosh had faced a similar attack at Uttarpara in Hooghly on Saturday while travelling in his car to party chief Mamata Banerjee's rally in Shreerampore.
