Water Crisis Triggers Road Blockade in Odisha's Koraput; Traffic Disrupted For Hours
The protest was withdrawn after a Junior Engineer from the concerned department reached the spot and held discussions with the villagers

Bhubaneswar: Residents of Narayanpatna block in Odisha's Koraput district staged a road blockade on Wednesday to protest a prolonged drinking water crisis, disrupting traffic movement for several hours, officials said.
Carrying pots and buckets, villagers blocked the Podapadar road, demanding immediate intervention by the administration to address acute water shortages affecting Khandia Sahi and Pathar Deula Sahi areas.
The protesters alleged that despite repeated appeals to the authorities, no concrete steps had been taken to ensure regular drinking water supply. Frustrated by the continued scarcity, residents took to the streets and halted vehicular movement, leading to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
Holding water containers as a symbol of their hardship, the agitators accused the administration of neglecting their grievances and demanded a permanent solution to the crisis.
The protest was withdrawn after a Junior Engineer from the concerned department reached the spot and held discussions with the villagers. The official assured the residents that necessary measures would be taken to resolve the problem and improve water supply in the area.
Following the assurance, the protesters lifted the blockade, restoring normal traffic movement, officials said.
