UP Poll Body Launches Spl Campaign To Add Deleted Names In Voter List
For this purpose, the assembly electoral roll will be matched with the panchayat and Urban Local Body electoral rolls and eligible youth, especially those in the 18-19 age group, will be included through educational institutions.

New Delhi:Facing flak over mass deletion of names during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh (CEOUP) on Wednesday said that they are taking special steps to include the names of eligible citizens who have been left out, especially the youth and women. UP goes for assembly polls in early 2027.
The CEOUP said eligible citizens for inclusion in the electoral roll will be identified through matching of panchayat-urban local body and assembly rolls and through ration shops. Registration of youth will be facilitated through voter literacy clubs while assistance of ASHA, ANM, Anganwadi workers, and Group Sakhi will be taken for registering women voters.
“Every possible effort will be made to include the names of eligible citizens who have been left out in the electoral rolls of assembly constituencies, especially youth and women. In this regard, directions have been issued to all District Election Officers (DEOs). Based on the qualifying date of January 1, 2027, instructions have been given to ensure the registration of all eligible citizens of the state in the electoral roll during the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls-2027,” the CEOUP said.
For this purpose, the assembly electoral roll will be matched with the panchayat and Urban Local Body electoral rolls and eligible youth, especially those in the 18-19 age group, will be included through educational institutions.
“For such identified eligible citizens who are not included in the electoral roll of any assembly in India, all Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) have been instructed to get Form-6 filled out for including their names. DEOs have been directed to take assistance from ration shops to include the names of eligible citizens left out in the electoral roll. Form-6 will be filled out to include in the electoral roll the names of students studying in Class 9 and above, especially those in the 18-19 age group,” the CEOUP said.
It added that the number of women voters in the current electoral roll is abnormally low compared to men voters, hence, all DEOs have been directed to obtain assistance from various government departments to include eligible women's names.
