U’khand To Give Numbers To Identify Families Living In State

The scheme, as per the Cabinet decision, will help integrate the state’s various social welfare programmes with these family IDs, enabling direct and efficient delivery of benefits to eligible households.

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government will soon launch a special Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana to identify and register all families living in the state. The Pushkar Singh Dhami Cabinet, which met on Wednesday, also approved an increase in the compensation amount for victims of the Dharali disaster in Uttarkashi.

In a key decision, the Cabinet gave its in-principle approval for the implementation of the Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana (Devbhoomi Family Scheme), aimed at identifying every family residing in Uttarakhand. According to officials, the main objective of the scheme is not only to register families but also to create unique family identification IDs for them.

The scheme, as per the Cabinet decision, will help integrate the state’s various social welfare programmes with these family IDs, enabling direct and efficient delivery of benefits to eligible households.

The Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana proposes the creation of a comprehensive database of all families in the Himalayan state and the issuance of unique family identification numbers. Beneficiaries’ IDs will be linked to government welfare schemes, allowing them to access benefits online through a single click.

In another major decision, the Cabinet approved an increase in ex gratia assistance for disaster victims in Dharali and other affected regions.

As per the revised norms, the compensation for families of deceased victims has been increased from ₹4 lakh to ₹5 lakh, while the compensation for fully damaged concrete (permanent) houses has been fixed at ₹5 lakh.

Additionally, the Cabinet decided to raise financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund by ₹1 lakh for owners of damaged kuchha houses, in addition to the existing disaster relief compensation.
