Twisha Death Case: MP High Court Gives Ex-Judge Time To Respond To Bail Challenge
“The parents have filed additional contentions; we would have to give respondents a chance to respond to these contentions”: The Bench

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh high court on Monday granted time to Twisha Sharma’s mom-in-law Giribala Singh, accused in her unnatural death case, to respond to the petitions challenging her anticipatory bail, by posting the hearing for May 27.
A single bench of Justice Dev Narayan Mishra granted time to Singh, a retired district judge, on the ground that she should be given the opportunity to respond to the ‘additional submissions’ filed by Twisha’s parents while seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail, given to the former judicial officer by the Bhopal sessions court in the case.
Besides Twisha’s parents, the Madhya Pradesh government has also filed a separate petition in the high court seeking cancellation of the former judge’s anticipatory bail.
“The parents have filed additional contentions; we would have to give respondents a chance to respond to these contentions”, the bench held.
Earlier, Singh’s counsel sought a week’s time for filing the response.
However, the counsel for Twisha’s parents pressed for urgent submission.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who appeared for Madhya Pradesh government also insisted for a short time, arguing that Singh had managed to obtain bail within a day.
“There was institutional bias… when they can apply for bail and be granted the same within a day. We request for early and expeditious hearing as was given by the sessions court”, Mr. Mehta said.
Eventually, the case was posted for May 27.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team is scheduled to arrive in Bhopal late on Monday night to take over the probe into the Twisha death case from police, sources said.
