Tribal Labourer In Panna Mines 11.95 Carat Diamond Valued At Rs 40 lakh
Panna is rich in good quality diamond reserves and the district is estimated to have a diamond reserve of 12 lakh carats.

Bhopal: A tribal labourer in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district has mined a 11.95 carat diamond valued at around Rs 40 lakh, officials said on Wednesday.
The lady luck smiled at Madhav, the tribal labourer, when he dug out the piece of the precious stone while mining a patch of land allotted to him in Krishna Kalyanpur Patti under Panna district on Tuesday, the local mines officer said.
Panna is rich in good quality diamond reserves and the district is estimated to have a diamond reserve of 12 lakh carats.
Madhya Pradesh government has framed a policy in which patches of lands in the diamond mines area are allotted to the people on lease to mine the precious stone.
Those who mine diamonds in these lands will have to deposit them at the district mines office in Panna.
The diamonds are later auctioned and the proceeds are given to them after deducting a royalty of 12.5 percent.
District mines officer Ravi Patel said the diamond found by Madhav is of high quality and is worth around Rs 40 lakh.
