Air Hostess Alleges Sexual Harassment in ICU at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital
Woman claims she was assaulted in semi-conscious state; says two nurses witnessed but did not intervene

A 46-year-old trainee air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted while on a ventilator in a semi-conscious state inside the ICU of Gurugram’s upscale Medanta Hospital. The alleged incident occurred on April 6, and a formal complaint was lodged last week after the woman shared details of the assault with her husband following her discharge from the hospital on April 13.
According to the FIR, the woman was initially admitted to a private hospital after suffering complications due to a drowning incident. On April 5, her condition worsened, and she was transferred to Medanta Hospital, where she was kept under intensive care and placed on a ventilator.
In her complaint, the woman stated that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital staff member while in a weakened state and unable to resist. She further alleged that two nurses were present at the time of the assault but did not intervene.
Following her statement to her husband, the couple approached the police, who registered an FIR against unidentified hospital staff at Sadar police station. Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar confirmed that the investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify the accused by examining CCTV footage, medical duty charts, and questioning hospital personnel.
Medanta Hospital, in an official statement on April 15, acknowledged the serious nature of the allegation and confirmed that it is fully cooperating with the authorities. “All relevant documents, including CCTV footage and the patient’s medical records, have been shared with the police,” said Dr. Sanjay Durani, Medical Superintendent of Medanta. He also emphasized that “no allegations have been substantiated at this stage.”
The victim’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate, and police teams are combing through evidence to establish the facts. The case has raised concerns about patient safety and accountability in high-security areas like ICUs, with the woman and her family demanding swift and strict action against those responsible.
