Vijayawada: A seemingly minor family dispute over money tragically escalated into double suicide in Gudivada, Krishna district, on Saturday.
Bulusu Rambabu, 42, a bus driver struggling with alcohol addiction, returned home intoxicated early Saturday and requested Rs. 500 from his son Gautham, a mechanic. Despite repeated requests and arguments with his wife Kanaka Durga, 38, Rambabu received the money via online transfer.
Later, Kanaka and Gautham confronted Rambabu about his drinking habit, leading to another heated exchange. Unable to bear the conflict, Rambabu ended his life. While family members rushed him to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
Informed by Rambabu's daughter Tanuja, the family returned home carrying his body. Witnessing this, Kanaka, overwhelmed by grief and the recent argument, tragically followed suit by taking her own life.
The Gudivada police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the double suicide.
