TMC MP Kakoli Gets Y Level Security From Centre
A team of CISF personnel has been deputed to give her Y category from Tuesday following a report by intelligence agencies to the ministry of home affairs about a threat perception on her life: Reports

KOLKATA: The Centre has provided its security cover to Barasat Trinamul Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar close on the heels of her removal from the post of party's chief whip in the Lok Sabha following the Assembly Election results.
A team of CISF personnel has been deputed to give her Y category from Tuesday following a report by intelligence agencies to the ministry of home affairs about a threat perception on her life. This is the first instance in recent time when a TMC leader has got central security cover.
The sudden development has raised eyebrows within the TMC as many in the top leadership have got busy in checking if this was a prelude to defection to BJP. Dr Ghosh Dastidar was not available for comments.
It also came after she made an outburst in the social media last week after she was replaced by Serampore TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee as the party's chief whip in the lower house. Their party supremo Mamata Banerjee took the decision at a meeting on May 14.
In a cryptic message targeting Ms Banerjee while recollecting long association with her, she later wrote, “Introduction since ‘74, journey began in ‘84. Awarded today for loyalty of four decades.”
Meanwhile TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has written a letter to Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose against the denial of leader of the opposition status to party's Ballygunge MLA Sovandeb Chattopadhyay.
Assembly secretary Somindranath Das acknowledged the receipt of the letter but pointed out that the letter did not have the date of the resolution adopted by TMC or the resolution annexed. The Speaker then asked his secretariat to issue a letter immediately to TMC and Mr Banerjee, seeking them to furnish the details to mention the names of the members who signed in their legislature party's resolution to back the status to Mr Chattopadhyay in the House.
