Tiger Mauls 7-Year-Old Boy to Death Near Ranthambore’s Temple

Child was returning from prayers with family when tiger dragged him into the forest, say eyewitnesses

A seven-year-old boy was mauled to death by a tiger near the Trinetra Ganesh temple in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. The child, a native of Bundi, had visited the temple with his grandmother and uncle to offer prayers. According to Bharat Singh, Station House Officer of Kundera police station, the incident occurred between 2.30 and 3 pm while the family was returning from the temple. “As per eyewitnesses, the tiger suddenly appeared from the jungle, attacked the boy, and dragged him away,” Singh said.

Ramsingh Gurjar, an eyewitness and devotee who was also returning from the temple, said the tiger emerged swiftly from the forest, grabbed the child in its jaws, and disappeared into the woods. Forest officials and police launched an immediate search operation and later recovered the child’s body. The incident has triggered panic among devotees and locals, as the Trinetra Ganesh temple is a popular pilgrimage site located inside the reserve. Authorities are expected to review safety protocols and movement restrictions in the area.
