Tata Group To Invest Rs 63,000 crore In Odisha’s Jajpur

CM Majhi to lay foundation stone on May 22

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark development for Odisha’s industrial landscape, Tata Group is set to invest Rs 63,000 crore in a mega industrial project in Jajpur district. The project, one of the largest private investments in the state in recent years, is expected to significantly boost manufacturing capacity and generate large-scale employment.

According to industries minister Samapad Swain, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious project on May 22. Speaking to the media on Saturday, Swain highlighted the transformative potential of the project, which is projected to create over 34,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

“This is a major milestone in Odisha’s journey to becoming a leading manufacturing and investment hub. The Tata project will not only drive economic growth in Jajpur but also spur development in the surrounding areas by creating a supportive ecosystem for ancillary industries and micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs),” Swain said.

The state government has pledged full support to ensure the smooth execution of the project, including facilitation of land acquisition, infrastructure development, and necessary clearances. The investment is also expected to attract further projects in sectors such as logistics, housing, and education, enhancing the region’s socio-economic landscape.

The Chief Minister will also lay foundation stones for 12 industrial projects and inaugurate 4 completed ones on May 22, with a combined investment value of Rs 1.14 lakh crore, collectively generating employment for 34,000 people.

Earlier, the state had secured MoUs for projects worth Rs 63,000 crore during the ‘Utkarsh Odisha:Make in Odisha’ Conclave. “Odisha remains committed to industrial growth and positioning itself as a leading destination for investment. Apart from Tata Group, industrial majors like JSW and Vedanta have also expressed strong interest in expanding their footprint in the state,” the Industries minister added.
