KOLKATA: West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s convoy came under attack allegedly by a group of Trinamul Congress workers during his visit to Coochbehar on Tuesday.
A police pilot car in the cavalcade was damaged in the incident at Khagrabari of the northern district at around 12.30 pm. Adhikari escaped unhurt and later alleged that the attack was instructed by TMC leadership.
Adhikari, the Nandigram BJP MLA was on his way to submit a deputation to superintendent of police (Coochbehar) Dyutiman Bhattacharya at his office over the law-and-order situation in the district.
When the convoy was passing through Khagrabari, TMC workers shouted slogans and showed black flags over attacks on the Bengali speaking migrant workers in BJP-ruled states. Some of them also hurled some heavy objects which broke the windscreen of a police car.
